About the website
The Urbanist Dispatch was founded in August 2011 as an avenue to explore the developments and trends of city life. While there is a urban planning spin on some of the content, this isn’t a website just for planners. Anyone who loves cities, urban affairs, public policy, transit, neighborhoods, or any related topic should find something fun for them at the Urbanist Dispatch.
Simply put, The Urbanist Dispatch is about the places where we live, work, play, and how to make them better. Through open dialogue, collaboration, and the will to understand the lives and viewpoints of others we can make the world – be it urban, rural, or somewhere in between – a better place. That’s why the Dispatch exists.
This site features 100% unique news, articles, and commentary. No “autoblogging”, RSS feed imports, or stolen content – everything here is original copy or used with permission (either direct from the author or offered through licensing such as creative commons which allows fair use). The Urbanist Dispatch is run by me, John Cruz along with the commentary and helpful banter of writer David Mieksztyn.
The nuts and bolts behind it
This site is built on WordPress with the Morning After theme by Woo Themes. It’s built on the Woo framework, which is all kinds of cool. Background image from the image “A Place to Be” by rawart on Deviantart, you can view the original work here.
